VAOBA Alpaca Neonatal Clinic

This one day clinic will be offered on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Registration is limited to 30 participants. The seminar will be held at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine on the campus of Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg Virginia. The Neonatal Seminar is sponsored by the Virginia Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association. Attendees are chosen on a first come, first served basis by online registration.

The clinic will feature instruction by industry expert, Dr. Cheryl Dewitt, and focus on the breeding and birthing process for alpacas. Lecture in the morning on conception through birth, followed by a short lunch break and then a hands-on lab demonstrations in neonatal positioning (dystocia training). Lecture will continue on basic neonatal care and will be presented by Dr. Sherrie Clark Deener, Associate Professor of Theriogenology, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. A tour of the Large Animal Hospital will be offered at the end of the Clinic.
