Alpaca Parasite Workshop

- Conducted by Dr. Anne Zajac, Parasitologist, Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine
- Workshop will provide lecture and laboratory training on using fecal analysis and interpretation in evaluating alpaca parasite infections
- Due to the hands-on nature of the workshop, participation will be limited to the first twenty (20) people registering
- The workshop will be held at Virginia State University’s Randolph Farm and is co-sponsored by VSU’s Small Ruminant Program and the Virginia Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association
- Registration fee is $20 and covers breakfast and lunch
Mission Statement
The Virginia Alpaca Owners & Breeders Association (VAOBA) exists to develop and promote a dynamic, growing and profitable alpaca industry in the State of Virginia and the United States. To accomplish this, the Association will:Value and conduct itself with honesty and integrity and operate under a policy of openness, adhering to its adopted Code of Ethics;
Provide training and education to interested parties on alpaca management, herd health and other alpaca husbandry practices;
Provide opportunities for networking among members and their families and for sharing services, equipment, supplies, facilities, knowledge, fellowship and a common love for alpacas;
Encourage the breeding of the highest quality alpacas;
Provide marketing and growth opportunities for the Virginia alpaca industry through shows, public relations events, youth programs and collaboration with state and local governments and civic organizations;
Promote, conduct and/or sponsor programs to educate and inform the public about alpacas and alpaca products;
Hold regular Membership and Board of Directors meetings to conduct the business of the Association;
Foster a spirit of trust and fun for VAOBA members and their families and welcome new members!
